Dr. Chung is a Professor of the Department of Restorative Dentistry School of Dentistry, University of Washington. He holds a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree (1979) from the National Defense Medical Center–TAIWAN, a Doctor of Philosophy degree (1987) in Biomaterials from the Northwestern University, and a certificate in Advanced Prosthodontics (2002) from the University of Texas, Health Science Center at San Antonio. He received Skinner Memorial Award (Dental Materials, 1986) and Sharry Award (ACP, 2002). He is a fellow of the Academy of Dental Materials (FADM). Before he joined University of Washington (2005), he had been teaching in National Yang-Ming University–TAIWAN for 20+ years. He is the course director of the Dental Materials Science courses and clinical instructor of junior and senior dental students at University of Washington. He is a frequent presenter at scientific meetings in and outside North America. He has served as a reviewer for many peer-reviewed journals and authored more than 160 scientific and clinical articles in peer-reviewed journals. His current research topics focus on biomechanical behavior of dental implants and performance of restorative materials in clinical dentistry.

Major Interests
Dr. Wu’s clinical interest in medicine lies in pediatric otology, cochlear implantation, and endoscopic ear surgery. His research interest centers on genetics of deafness, cochlear implantation, and molecular therapy of deafness. Dr. Wu’s research interest in law lies in medical negligence and liability. -

Dr. Staehler graduated from Ludwig-Maximilian-University Munich in 2017. After initial training in general dentistry, he completed the 3-year periodontal residency program at the clinic of Prof. Huerzeler and Dr. Zuhr in Munich between 2018 and 2021. Subsequently to this program Dr. Staehler worked as a visiting research scholar at Dr. Giannobile’s lab at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine from January to March 2022.Since September 2022, he works at Oral Surgery/ OMFS department of Prof. Otto at the University Hospital of Munich (LMU).
Dr. Staehler was speaker at the esthetic implant placement tract at the 2022 Europerio conference in Copenhagen. His research and teaching interest involve microsurgical plastic periodontal surgery, treatment of periimplantitis and implant dentistry. He has published scientific articles about the socket shield technique and soft tissue augmentation techniques around teeth and implants.
He serves as a board-certified Periodontist in the German Society of Periodontology (DGParo).
